The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ambassador Kwesi Quartey was born on 17th December, 1950. Educated in Achimota, Faculty of Law, University of Ghana and Ghana School of Law. Prior to his current appointment, he was Ghana’s Ambassador to Ethiopia as well as the Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) with concurrent accreditation to Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Eritrea, Djibouti and Rwanda. He was a career Diplomat.

He is a Lawyer by training, called to the Ghana Bar in 1977, a Solicitor and an Advocate.

In the course of his diplomatic career which spanned for a period of thirty-five (35) years (1977-2012), he had the opportunity to serve in various capacities in Ghana Embassies in Cotonou, Cairo, Brussels, Havana and Ghana Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

He was a member of the Ghana National Hockey Team which won the first African Hockey Championship in Cairo.

He is married with four (4) children. His hobbies include Chess, Field Hockey, Lawn and Table Tennis.
