Hon. Mohammad Habibu Tijani, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Regional Integration, was appointed in March, 2017.

Hon. Tijani is an Educationist, Politician, expert in Governance, Leadership, Security and Conflict Management, and an Islamic Cleric.

He was born on  February 16, 1965, and hails from Yendi in the Northern Region of Ghana.

Hon. Tijani holds a Master of  Governance and Leadership Degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Study of Religions from the University of Ghana. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education  from Valley View University, Oyibi, Accra and a Teachers' Certificate “A” 3-Year Post-Secondary from the Bagabaga Teacher Training College in Tamale.

Mr. Tijani served as an Assistant Director in-charge of  Monitoring and Evaluation in the Central Gonja District Education Office. He also  served as the Municipal/District Chief Executive for Yendi between 2001 and 2009 and the Member of Parliament for Yendi since 2013 to date. He is a member of the Works  and Housing, Business and House Committees of Parliament. 



Under the the Presidency of His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, Hon. Tijani was the Municipal Chief Executive of  Yendi. He is married with 4 children. He is also a staunch Muslim.

Hon. Tijani has supported his constituents in many ways, including  assisting in the following facilities:

  • Establishment of the Yendi College of Health Sciences in Yendi
  • Construction of Maternal and Child Health Care Centres in Yendi
  • Construction of 37 unit of 3 Classroom Blocks in Yendi
  • Construction of 13 unit of 6 Classroom Blocks in the Yendi Municipality
  • Construction of 13 CHPS Compounds in the Yendi Municipality
