On Thursday, 18th<\/sup>\u00a0January, 2018, H.E. the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, received letters of credence from the Ambassador of the Republic of Japan, Mr. Tsutomu Himenu.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, H.E. Tsutomu Himenu, recounted the cordial relations between Ghana and Japan. He lauded Ghana, for its role and status as a beacon of peace, democracy and stability in the sub-region. H.E. Himenu, recalled the President\u2019s speech at the recently held United Nations General Assembly, on UN reforms, and pledged Japan\u2019s support for the cause. He also stated that it was time that Africa held its rightful place on the world stage. The Ambassador also assured the President, of Japan\u2019s economic support for the \u201cGhana Beyond Aid\u201d initiative. He further indicated that Ghana Government\u2019s approach to governance, with an emphasis on efficiency, transparency, accountability, democratic and civilian oversight, co-ordination and professionalism, was exemplary.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to Japan for its support over the years, through agencies such as Tokyo International Conference of Africa\u2019s Development (TICAD) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He expressed the hope that the Ambassador would continue the good works of his predecessor.
