the Ministry\u2019s weekly lecture series, a debate on the topic \u201cAre GMOs good for Ghana?\u201d was organised by the Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Bureau (PPMEB), on Tuesday, 16<sup>th<\/sup> January, 2018. The purpose of the event was to debate, for or against Ghana\u2019s acceptance of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Bureau, Mr. Samuel Kumah, in his opening remarks, stated that the world was constantly changing and one of the important aspects of our lives, which keeps on evolving is food security. Hence the need to organise such programmes, in order to educate participants on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In attendance, were officials from the Ministry, the media and invited guests. The resource persons who voted for the motion were Professor W.S. Alhassan, from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR); Mrs. Vivian Oduro, a research scientist at the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agricultural Research Institute (BINARI); Dr. Solomon Gyan Ansah, from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Mr. Eric Okoree, from the National Biosafety Authority.
