The African Union launched the Country Structural Vulnerability and Resilience Assessment (CSVRA) and Country Structural Vulnerability Mitigation Strategy (CSVMS) Report of the Republic of Ghana on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Accra.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch which saw the participation of representatives of the African Union Commission, \u00a0various Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs) including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ministry of National Security and Research Department, the Minister for National Security, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah said Ghana is pleased to be the first country in Africa to undertake the process of the Country Structural Vulnerability and Resilience Assessment. He said Ghana is noted to be a peaceful country and the report would help to further enhance peace and security in the country. He urged \u00a0all \u00a0stakeholders to see to the implementation of the recommendations in the report.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Division (CPEWD) of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Frederic Gatertse-Ngoga in his address said the African Union Commission\u2019s Country Structural Vulnerability and Resilience Assessment (CSVRA) tools and processes are to facilitate the identification of vulnerability to conflict at an early stage on the Continent and come up with mitigating strategies.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Gateretse-Ngoga intimated that the African Union’s Continental Structural Conflict Prevention Framework was inspired by the African Union’s renewed emphasis on conflict prevention and the decisions of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in 2013 in their declaration on \u201cSilencing the Guns\u201d in Africa by 2020. \u00a0He said in adopting the objectives of Silencing the Guns, the African Union Assembly pledged \u201cnot to bequeath the burden of wars to the next generation of Africans\u201d. He congratulated Ghana for spearheading the continental efforts at \u201cSilencing the Guns by 2020\u201d and being a great source of inspiration and encouragement to other African countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
