The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) hosted the Second Edition of Ramadan Iftar. The event brought together Members of the Diplomatic Corps, staff of the Ministry and representatives from the Office of the National Chief Imam.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the Honourable Minister acknowledged the harmony between the various religions in Ghana and said it reflects the tradition of peaceful coexistence. He paid special tribute to the National Chief Imam for his role in fostering national unity and moral leadership and described him as a pillar of peace and tolerance. He called for peace, dialogue and de-escalation in the Middle East. He used the occasion to commend the Management of the Ministry for the professionalism and dedication in advancing Ghana\u2019s foreign policy objectives. He extended Ramadan wishes to Muslims and expressed hope that the sacred month would inspire deeper compassion, unity and renewed commitment. He highlighted the Quranic injunction in Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13) which calls on humanity to \u201cknow one another,\u201d describing it as a timeless reminder of the essence of mutual respect, cross-cultural understanding and cooperation for the common good of humanity.<\/p>\n
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu said Ramadan is a season of reflection, compassion, self-discipline and alms giving, noting that these values were not only central to faith, but also effective for peaceful coexistence.<\/p>\n
The Aide to the national Chief Imam, Dr. Mohammed Marzuq Abubakar Azindoo indicated that all humanity originates from Adam and Eve and explained that the differences in race, nationality and religion were meant to foster understanding and peaceful coexistence not division. He said fasting in Ramadan is prescribed to cultivate piety, discipline and moral consciousness. He concluded by calling for unity, compassion and justice, urging all to uphold values that promote harmony and peaceful coexistence in society.<\/p>\n
