On Thursday, 21st May, 2026, the 10th Session of the Ghana-Switzerland Political Consultations was held in Accra. The delegations of Ghana and Switzerland were led by the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Iddrissu and the Deputy State Secretary, Head of the Africa Division, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Philipp Stalder, respectively. The meeting brought together senior officials from both countries to review existing bilateral cooperation, exchange views on regional and global developments and explore new ways to further strengthen the relations between Ghana and Switzerland.<\/p>\n
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Iddrisu recalled the contributions of Ambassador Stalder in enhancing the relations between the two countries during his tour of duty as an Ambassador in Ghana. She stated that the enduring bond of friendship between Ghana and Switzerland is founded on shared values and partnership in peace, security, democracy, multilateralism and the rule of law. She further highlighted the importance of the political consultation mechanism in sustaining dialogue and cooperation between the two countries. She indicated that Ghana and Switzerland would continue to collaborate on issues of mutual interest including climate resilience, sustainable agriculture and local governance.<\/p>\n
She noted that the Swiss private sector operating in Ghana continue to contribute to the economic cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit. She added that visits at various levels between the two countries would continue to sustain dialogue and contribute to deepening the relations.<\/p>\n
On his part, the leader of the Swiss delegation, Ambassador Philipp Stalder stated that the two countries have maintained cordial relations and informed that an appreciable number of Swiss nationals reside in Ghana. He highlighted high-level visits undertaken by both countries, indicating that these engagements had contributed to enhancing the relations between Ghana and Switzerland. He said that the Swiss side considers the political consultations as an important platform for both countries to assess the existing bilateral relations and collaborate to address issues of mutual interest.<\/p>\n
