Foreign Minister receives Open Letters from Ambassador- Designate of Switzerland to Ghana

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey(MP) received open letters from H. E. Philipp Stalder, Ambassador- Designate of Switzerland to Ghana on Monday 13th May, 2019.

 

Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey congratulated H. E. Philipp Stalder on his appointment and acknowledged the long-standing bond of friendship between Ghana and Switzerland which dates back to the 19th century. The Minister mentioned the establishment of the first agricultural school, missionary hospital at Agogo and the development of cocoa as an export product of Ghana as some of the contributions Switzerland has made to the development of the country.

 

Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey stated that the relations between the two countries has been fruitful and assured that Ghana would continue to strengthen relations with Switzerland in the areas of healthcare, agriculture and education for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

 

H. E. Philipp Stalder, for his part commended Ghana for her democracy, foreign policy and peacekeeping role which has had a positive impact on the world. He lauded the “Ghana Beyond Aid” agenda and assured that he would work to further enhance the strong relations as well as increase trade between the two countries.
