The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with its stakeholders held the Media Launch of the Diaspora Summit 2025 which is scheduled to take place on 19th and 20th December, 2025 under the theme “Resetting Ghana: The Diaspora as the 17th Region.”.
Addressing the event, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), reassured the Diaspora community that their investments in Ghana were safe. She emphasised that the Summit would go beyond dialogue to deliver tangible outcomes in innovation, education, and enterprise, while underscoring Government’s determination to build a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) in his remarks highlighted Government’s commitment to deepening engagement with the Diaspora and leveraging the skills, knowledge and resources to accelerate national development. He further acknowledged the contribution of the Diaspora to development and stated that Summit is expected to provide opportunities for trade, investment, tourism, and entrepreneurship, as well as high-level policy dialogues and business-to-business networking. The Minister also highlighted the government’s leadership in advancing the African reparations agenda, noting that a special conference on reparations would form part of the Summit.
On his part, Mr. Kofi Okyere Darko, Director of Diaspora Affairs Office highlighted that the contribution of the diaspora extended beyond remittances to include professional expertise, entrepreneurial innovation, global advocacy among others
The Summit is expected to attract participants from across the globe and position Ghana as a hub for diaspora engagement and investment on the continent.
