On the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, held discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Jeenbek Kulubaev. The Kyrgyz Minister provided an overview of his country’s geography and economy and expressed interest in establishing stronger relations with Africa through the African Union.
Minister Kulubaev also proposed the opening of avenues for political consultations between Ghana and Kyrgyzstan as a means of deepening bilateral ties.
Education featured prominently in the discussions. The Kyrgyz Foreign Minister outlined opportunities for a scholarship and student exchange programme, emphasizing Kyrgyzstan’s strengths in medical, engineering, and information technology education, which he described as both high-quality and affordable.
In response, Hon. Ablakwa welcomed the proposals and underscored Ghana’s interest in strengthening cooperation with other states. He requested that frameworks for political dialogue and economic collaboration be developed as soon as possible, to ensure that the outcomes of the meeting translate into practical and mutually beneficial cooperation.
