On Friday, 7th November 2025, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama held a brief but significant ceremony at the Jubilee House where relief items were presented to Cuba, Jamaica and Sudan in response to ongoing humanitarian crises in the three countries. The gesture, coordinated by the Office of the President in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reflects Ghana’s enduring commitment to international solidarity.
The President expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Jamaica and Cuba caused by Hurricane Melissa as well as the conflict in Sudan which continues to displace people. The items donated were assorted medications, food items, clothing, sanitary supplies, among others.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) extolled the gesture of some corporate institutions which supported the President’s humanitarian initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary countries, the High Commissioner of Jamaica to Ghana with residence in Abuja, His Excellency Lincoln George Downer expressed appreciation to the Government and People of Ghana for the act of solidarity.
The ceremony was attended by Senior Government Officials and Members of the Diplomatic Corps as well as representatives of corporate bodies which supported the cause.
