THE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS RECEIVES THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) on 6th January 2026, received the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Christian Rogg. The discussions held between the Minister and the Ambassador focused on elevating the bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK) to a strategic partnership to enhance interaction in the areas of economic growth, governance and education.

The Honourable Minister highlighted Ghana’s efforts to promote economic development through targeted investments, industrialisation and job creation. He enumerated some  measures that have been put in place by Government to improve fiscal discipline, strengthen public institutions and support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). He also noted efforts being made to foster regional stability

His Excellency Rogg commended Ghana’s progress in governance, economic management and democratic reforms and indicated the UK’s readiness to deepen cooperation in education, skills development and institutional capacity-building.

The Minister and the High Commissioner agreed that close collaboration between relevant institutions of the two countries would facilitate efficient delivery of agreed initiatives and further strengthen the relations for mutual benefit.
