MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS RECEIVES THE LETTERS OF CREDENCE OF THE COUNTRY MANAGER OF THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK

On Wednesday, 15th April, 2026, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) received the Letters of Credence of the Country Manager of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Ms. Halima Yussuf Hashi.

The Honourable Minister welcomed Ms. Hashi and congratulated her on her appointment. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with the African Development Bank, noting the Bank’s critical role in supporting the country’s development agenda. Honourable Ablakwa emphasised that Ghana continues to champion African-led reforms, particularly in areas relating to debt settlement and restructuring, financial independence, and broader reforms within global financial institutions.

On her part, Ms. Hashi thanked the Honourable Minister for the warm reception and underscored the Bank’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Ghana and assured of its continuous support in priority areas such as the Big Push and key infrastructure development to promote sustainable economic growth.

Both sides expressed optimism about the tangible benefits an enhanced partnership would yield.
