PRESENTATION OF 2000 TONS OF FERTILIZERS TO GHANA BY MOROCCO

On Wednesday, 15th April, 2026 the Ministry hosted a brief but significant ceremony to officially receive a donation of 2000 metric tons of fertilizer donated by the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Government of the Republic of Ghana.

Receiving the fertilizers, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) expressed gratitude to the Government of Morocco for what he described as a generous and timely intervention which reflects the cordial relations between the two countries. He added that it aligns with Ghana’s strategic objective of achieving food security and acknowledged that Morocco had earlier made a similar donation. He revealed that that the Moroccan authorities have also demonstrated readiness to support Ghana in fertilizer production. In addition, he referenced expanded collaboration in areas such as visa facilitation and sports development, noting that these initiatives would increase people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefits of the citizens of the two countries.

On her part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil, underscored that the donation constitutes the second consignment of fertilizer support to Ghana, is a testament to the depth of the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations. She highlighted Morocco’s commitment to promoting agricultural development across Africa and noted that the support would help boost productivity, enhance the resilience of Ghana’s farming sector, and mitigate the impact of global challenges such as climate change, supply chain disruptions, and rising fertilizer costs. She also commended Ghana’s prioritization of agriculture as a driver of sustainable growth and acknowledged the role of Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) Africa in facilitating effective coordination, farmer support, and capacity-building initiatives

The Chief Director, Ambassador Khadijah emphasized that the gesture represents a practical outcome of sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries and reflects the shared commitment to ensuring that bilateral cooperation yields tangible benefits for citizens. She noted that the donation would contribute meaningfully to ongoing national efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen food security, while expressing appreciation to the Government of Morocco for its continued partnership.
