The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu on Monday, 30th March, 2026 received the Open Letters of the Ambassador-Designate of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, His Excellency Cong Song at a brief ceremony held at the Ministry in Accra.
Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu congratulated His Excellency Cong Song on his appointment and welcomed him to Ghana. She noted the partnership between Ghana and China and highlighted the steady growth particularly in the areas of trade, infrastructure development and capacity building.
Ambassador Iddrisu further acknowledged China’s cooperation with Ghana at the multilateral level and expressed gratitude for China’s support for the recently adopted United Nations resolution on the Declaration of the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and Racialised Chattel Enslavement of Africans as the Gravest Crime against Humanity.
On his part, His Excellency Cong Song expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and assured of his commitment to further strengthen partnership between Ghana and China. He noted the steady growth in trade between the two countries, as well as the increasing presence of Chinese enterprises, educational exchanges and development cooperation initiatives in Ghana. He informed of China’s support for Government’s Reset Agenda and mentioned that the Embassy would work closely with the Ministry to advance practical cooperation between the two countries.
