COMMISSIONING OF PASSPORT APPLICATION CENTRE IN BONO EAST REGION

As part of ongoing efforts by the Government of Ghana to decentralise passport services and make them more accessible to citizens across the country, the Honourable Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP) on Tuesday, 30th December 2025 commissioned the Passport Application Centre in Techiman, Bono East Region.

In his address, the Deputy Minister highlighted Government’s commitment to efficient, transparent and citizen-focused public service delivery and used the opportunity to apprise the public on the reforms the Ministry has embarked on in relation to passport administration. He stated that the reforms were intended to reduce exploitation by intermediaries, improve transparency and restore public confidence in passport services. Eight (8) applicants who applied for passports at the Techiman application centre had their passports handed over to them by the Deputy Minister during the event.

The Regional Minister for Bono East Region, Honourable Francis Owusu Antwi remarked that the opening of the application centre was a testament to the President’s commitment to bringing essential services closer to the people.

The Nifahene/Aduanahene of Techiman, Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentenprem II who was the chairperson for the event  commended Government for bringing such a significant public service to the region. He stressed on the nexus between mobility and economic growth and added that the burden of travel cost which was associated with passport application would now be a thing of the past.

The Member of Parliament for Sene East, Honourable  Dominic Napare representing the Bono East Parliamentary Caucus joined others in applauding the Government for ensuring equity in public service delivery.

Also present at the event were District Chief Executives in the region, Regional Coordinating Director, Regional Director of Controller and Accountant General’s Department, Regional Director of Youth Employment Agency, Municipal Coordinating Director, Heads of Security Agencies in the region, Religious and Traditional Leaders, among others .
