Forty one Public and Civil servants have graduated from the 5th edition of the Colombia Spanish Language Course for diplomats and public servants. The course was aimed at equipping participants with the basic knowledge of the Spanish language to help facilitate their work with the Spanish speaking community.
Speaking at a closing ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Mohammad Habibu Tijani said the Colombian Spanish Language Course was organized by the Ministry within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Ghana and Colombia in February 2014, geared towards deepening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Hon. Tijani indicated that bilateral relations between Ghana and Colombia which centers on key areas such as higher education, health, arts and culture had undergone rapid development in recent times. He added that the Colombia Spanish Language Course would further strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
He indicated that over the last five years one hundred and eighty (180) Ghanaian Foreign Service Officers and Public Servants had benefitted from the Colombian Spanish Language Course.
He commended the Ambassador of Colombia to Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Claudia Turbay Quintero for her efforts and commitment to promoting goodwill between the two countries. He expressed his gratitude to the Language Centre of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and the course Instructor, Profesora Estella Agudelo Sanchez, for their contribution towards the teaching and learning of the Spanish Language. He also congratulated the public officials who took the Spanish course for their commitment and dedication to the study of the Spanish language.
For her part, the Ambassador of Colombia to Ghana, Her Excellency Mrs. Claudia Turbay Quintero, said the Colombian Agency of Presidential Cooperation (APC), the Embassy of Colombia in Ghana and the Universidad pontificia Bolivariana were glad to partner Ghana for the teaching and learning of the Spanish language.
She commended the Universidad pontificia Bolivariana for the teaching and learning methods which were used for the Spanish Language Course.
