GHANA AND FINLAND EXPLORE DEEPER COOPERATION ON THE MARGINS OF UNGA80

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), held bilateral discussions with Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Elina Valtonen, during the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Honourable Ablakwa expressed Ghana’s strong support for Finland, commending its consistent commitment to global peace and security. He welcomed Finland’s principled voice in international affairs and its contribution to advancing stability and cooperation at the multilateral level.

Looking ahead, the Minister noted that 2027 will mark the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic ties between Ghana and Finland. He encouraged both nations to seize the milestone as an opportunity to deepen collaboration particularly in trade, education, technology, climate resilience, and peacebuilding; and proposed the establishment of diplomatic missions to further strengthen institutional and people-to-people engagements.
