GHANA BIDS THE LATE FORMER FIRST LADY HER EXCELLENCY NANA KONADU AGYEMAN-RAWLINGS FAREWELL

Ghana bid the late former First Lady Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings farewell in a sombre ceremony held at the Independence Square on Friday, 28th November, 2025.

Tributes read in her honour resonated the exceptional leadership she demonstrated in the promotion of women empowerment and welfare of children. This legacy which has positively impacted the socio-economic development of the country was reechoed by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in his tribute to the late First Lady when he described her as a pioneer and champion for the empowerment of women. He indicated that her role in the upliftment of women redefined the role of First Lady into a platform for national development and added that her contributions laid foundation for gender-sensitive policies and social interventions.

The Management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) also attended the ceremony to pay their last respect to the former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. Also present at the ceremony were former Heads of State, foreign dignitaries, Senior Government Officials, Traditional Leaders and another sympathisers.
