Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a high-level bilateral meeting with H.E. Denis Moncada Colindres, Minister Advisor to the Co-Presidents for International Policy and Affairs of Nicaragua, to deepen longstanding relations and explore new areas of cooperation. The meeting built on the historical bonds between the two nations, recalling the friendship between the late President Jerry John Rawlings of Ghana and President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.
Hon. Ablakwa emphasized the importance of revitalizing collaboration in areas such as tourism, education, scholarships, and visa facilitation. H.E. Moncada Colindres conveyed fraternal greetings from President Ortega and underscored Nicaragua’s commitment to strengthening ties, while highlighting the value of expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Both sides agreed to broaden collaboration in production, agriculture, culture, sports, youth development, and exchanges of official delegations. The discussions also focused on Nicaragua’s national priorities, including poverty eradication, youth and women’s leadership, energy development, and socio-economic transformation.
The meeting concluded with the signing of two landmark agreements: a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations and a Framework Cooperation Agreement, establishing a structured foundation for future partnership and cooperation between Ghana and Nicaragua.
