GHANA PARTICIPATES IN NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT MID-TERM MINISTERIAL REVIEW MEETING

The 19th Midterm Ministerial Review Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was held in Kampala, Uganda, from 15th to 16th October, 2025, under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.” The meeting brought together Foreign Ministers and representatives from across the Global South to deliberate on key global challenges and reaffirm their commitment to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. Ghana’s delegation to the meeting was led by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP). The Ministerial Session was preceded by Senior Officials Meeting held from 13th to 14th October, 2025, to review progress on the implementation of the 2024 NAM Summit Final Document and finalised the Kampala Outcome Document.

In his address, Hon. Quayson reflected on the vision of NAM’s founding leaders, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and called for deeper South-South cooperation in addressing shared challenges such as economic fragility, climate change, and food insecurity. He further underscored the need to reform global financial institutions and called for investment in youth and women as drivers of inclusive and sustainable development.

Member States used the platform to exchange views on pressing global issues, including peace and security, debt distress, digital inequality, and the question of Palestine. In addition, Member States reiterated their commitment to strengthening multilateralism and ensuring that international institutions serve all nations more fairly and equitably.
