The Republic of Ghana participated in the 85th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), held in Banjul, The Gambia, from 21st to 30th October 2025.
The Session, chaired by Hon. Commissioner Iddrisa Sow, Chairperson of the Commission, brought together State Parties to deliberate on key issues relating to the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights across the continent.
Discussions emphasized the need for policy development, institutional capacity building, and the advancement of core principles for the promotion of human rights.
Ghana’s delegation was led by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson (MP), who reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the ideals of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. He also underscored Ghana’s dedication to the collective efforts of fostering human rights, good governance, and sustainable development throughout Africa.
