On Tuesday, 13th January 2026, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) received the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America, Mr. Rolf Olson to discuss the relations between Ghana and United States of America with the view to further strengthen the longstanding cooperation between the two countries. The meeting provided the opportunity for both sides to review achievements over the past year and exchange views on key bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
The Honourable Minister noted the enduring relations between Ghana and the United States of America and the significant achievements in areas including trade, health and people-to-people relations. He underscored the importance of continued collaboration with the United States of America in the promotion of peace and stability. The Minister further raised issues relating to consular cooperation, visa processing and immigration matters and stressed the need for continued dialogue and improved coordination to address concerns affecting citizens from both countries.
Mr. Olson, on his part, reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the United States of America to deepening its partnership with Ghana. He acknowledged the progress made in bilateral cooperation over the years and provided updates on ongoing discussions between the two countries in some key areas. He further highlighted efforts to enhance the cooperation and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to working closely with Ghana on matters of mutual interest.
