The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) held a meeting with the Director of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Professor Samuel A. Ntewusu, on Wednesday, 8th January, 2026. The discussions focused on advancing the Reparations Agenda in line with African Union’s Theme of the Year “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations”. In cognisance of the relevance of the subject matter to the continent, a decision was made during the 7th AU Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in July, 2025 to extend the agenda for a decade (2026–2036), with His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as the African Union Champion on Reparations.
