The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey (MP) has urged women who hold public office to continue to further the cause of women, children and the less privileged in the society.
Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey, made the call during a soiree which was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, for female Ambassadors accredited to Ghana, female appointees, Ministers and Members of Parliament, on Saturday December 15, 2018.
She stated that the purpose of the soiree was to create an opportunity for female appointees and public office holders from varied backgrounds, institutions and countries to interact and exchange ideas.
Hon. Botchwey was hopeful that the ladies would use the platform to exchange views and experiences on their work as female appointees, as well as further the cause of female empowerment, equality of opportunities and girl-child education in the society. She urged the female ambassadors and appointees to continue to work diligently despite the challenges they may face. She also urged the menfolk to support women in building the society.
Hon. Botchwey also took the opportunity to congratulate the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare for being the first female Chief of Staff of Ghana and in the ECOWAS sub-region.
