The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) met the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) which works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on 6th May, 2025. Discussions centred on migration and diaspora matters.
Mr. Wilhelm Hugo, Cluster Coordinator for Sustainable Economic Development in Ghana, representing GIZ commended Ghana for its efforts in migration management and diaspora engagement. He assured of GIZs commitment for continuous collaboration with Ghana for mutual benefit. Further, he outlined the German Cooperation’s 360-degree approach of migration management in Ghana, addressing the various migration phases to ensure a more dignifying migration.
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) recalled the relation that exists between GIZ and Ghana and expressed appreciation for its assistance to various sectors of the country. In highlighting the dangers associated with irregular migration, the Honourable Minister underscored Ghana’s sustained commitment to deepen engagement in migration management, skills development, among others through targeted government programmes to facilitate safe, regular and orderly migration.
