Remembrance Service held for the late Zambia High Commissioner to Ghana.

A private remembrance service has been held for the late Zambia High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Rayford Mbulu, who passed away on Wednesday, 6th March 2019.

The remembrance service was held on Tuesday, 12th March 2019 at the Action Chapel International in Accra and was attended by family members, the clergy, staff of the Zambia High Commission, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Charles Owiredu, read the tribute of the Government and People of the Republic of Ghana. He recalled that the late Zambia High Commissioner to Ghana presented his letter of credence on 6th September 2017 and subsequently worked to further deepen the cooperation and friendship between Ghana and Zambia.

Hon. Owiredu described H. E. Rayford Mbulu as a good representative of his country and added that he was instrumental in the promotion of trade and commercial interest between Ghana and Zambia, which led to the establishment of a Permanent Joint Commission of Cooperation (PJCC) between the two countries.

He commended the late High Commissioner for his role in facilitating official visits to Zambia by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, in April and June 2017 respectively. The Deputy Minister revealed that the late High Commissioner was working to ensure that the President of Zambia, His Excellency Edgar Lungu visits Ghana in 2019, and hoped that the visit would take place as anticipated.

Hon. Owiredu further expressed the condolences of the Government and People of Ghana to the family of the late High Commissioner and the Government and People of Zambia.
