The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia, Mr. Tim Watts as part of an African tour paid a courtesy call on his Ghanaian counterpart, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong on 8th December,2022 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
Mr. Watts, congratulated Ghana for its assumption of the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of November, 2022. He commended Africa’s effort in the fight against regional terrorism through the Accra Initiative and pledged the Australian Government’s support to curb terrorism in Africa through training and capacity building in the exchange of intelligence and logistical support to the African continent.
On his part, Hon. Ampratwum-Sarpong expressed Africa’s readiness to embrace the support of the Australian Government toward the continent’s fight against regional terrorism. He also took the opportunity to encourage Australian investors to explore the business opportunities available in the trade sector under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
