Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Charles Owiredu receives Open Letters from Country Director of International Fund for Agricultural Development.

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Charles Owiredu, received Open Letters from the Country Director, of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) West and Central Africa Division, Mr. Hani Elsadani-Salem on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

Hon. Owiredu welcomed Mr. Hani Elsadani-Salem and indicated that Ghana is embarking on an industrial revolution and agriculture is very critical in that regard. He stated that Government has put in place initiatives such as the “One District One Factory”, “Planting for Food and Jobs” to help add value to agriculture produce as well as increase employment in the country.

He urged the IFAD to help extend technical expertise and financial support to farmers to enable them increase their yields. He added that value addition to crops such as cocoa, cashew among others would increase their value and help reduce unemployment in the country.

Mr. Hani Elsadani-Salem, for his part, indicated that his organization is running a number of agricultural programmes which are at different stages of implementation. He gave the assurance that his organization would provide technical assistance to Ghanaian farmers to help improve agriculture in the country.
