ECOWAS UNDERTAKES CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR MULTI-STAKEHOLDERS ON PROTECTION AND HUMAN SECURITY INTEGRATED COORDINATION MECHANISMS IN ACCRA

The ECOWAS Commission is organising a 3-day Capacity Building Workshop for Multi-Stakeholders on Protection and Human Security Integrated Coordination Mechanisms in Accra from 4th to 6th April, 2023.

In his opening remarks, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Ghana, Ambassador Baba Gana Wakil reiterated the commitment of the ECOWAS Commission, to work assiduously with the Government of Ghana and other stakeholders towards improving protection and human security in the country.

Ambassador Wakil entreated both state and non-state actors to leverage the presence of the Office of the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Ghana in the planning and implementation of their programmes. He also encouraged them to work together to improve human security in the country, by harnessing the capacities and resources of relevant stakeholders.

The Coordinating Director for Multilateral Relations and   International Organisations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Ambassador Perpetua Dufu, on her part commended the ECOWAS National Office for organising the workshop, especially in light of the dire humanitarian and human security situation in the sub-region resulting from the threat of armed conflicts, terrorism, violent extremism among other factors.

Ambassador Dufu further encouraged participants to make recommendations that would feed into the development of policies and strategies to enhance the socio-economic development of the sub-region.
