Ghana And Serbia Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations

The Republic of Ghana and the Republic of Serbia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding formed part of the activities which were undertaken by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, when she paid a two day working visit to the Republic of Serbia.During the working visit, Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey held meetings with the President of Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Aleksandar Vučić and the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic, as well as other government officials.

In a meeting with her counterpart, Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey indicated that Ghana was interested in having good relations with Serbia and also further enhance cooperation in various areas for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic in his remarks indicated that Serbia, formerly known as Yugoslavia and Ghana were among the founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement and added that next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He indicated that there was the need to further enhance relations between the two countries and said Serbia and Ghana relations should not only be political but economic as well.

“Friendship needs to be cherished, we wish to assure our friends that we are a reliable partner, always guided by common interests” he added.
