Government pledges support for ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Charles Owiredu has assured that government would continue to support the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Brown Card Insurance Scheme.

Hon. Charles Owiredu made this known when the Secretary General of the Council of Bureaux ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme, Mr. Winfred Kwasi Dodzih paid a courtesy call on him on Wednesday 29th May 2019. The Chief Executive Officer and General Secretary of the Ghana National Bureau ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme, Mr. Patrick Agyekum, accompanied the Secretary General.

In his remarks, Hon. Owiredu stated that government was committed to creating a conducive business environment for businesses to grow and would continue to work with other stakeholders, to encourage the free movement of goods and services within the ECOWAS sub region within the agreed protocols.

Mr. Winfred Kwasi Dodzih, on his part said the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme aims at facilitating trade by ensuring the easy movement of goods and services. He added that easy movement of goods and services was very crucial to the economic advancement of the ECOWAS sub region. He also indicated that, although the scheme had faced some challenges, it had also chalked some successes. The Secretary General further assured that the Council of Bureaux ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme would work to accelerate the growth of the Scheme within member countries.
