The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP) participated in the maiden Ghana–Zurich Business and Cultural Expo held on 19th March 2026 in Zurich, Switzerland as the Special Guest of Honour and Guest Speaker.
The Expo was held under the theme, “Bridging Markets, Celebrating Heritage: A New Era of Economic Partnership.” The event brought together Ghanaian and Swiss entrepreneurs, investors, industry players, members of the Diplomatic Corps and provided a platform to explore new areas for mutually beneficial partnerships. It also showcased Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential through exhibitions and promotional displays.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister highlighted the longstanding and cordial relations between Ghana and Switzerland which date back to 1828. He commended Switzerland’s contributions to Ghana’s economic development, particularly in the areas of trade and exports and underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. He stated that the Government’s Reset Agenda, particularly the 24-Hour Economy policy is a strategic framework aimed at driving sustainable economic transformation.
Honourable Quayson emphasised the role of cultural diplomacy as a catalyst for economic growth and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to transitioning from raw commodity exports to value addition. He called for investment in areas including cocoa processing, refining of minerals, agro-processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing. He reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to deepen its economic engagement and invited Swiss investors and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the emerging opportunities presented under the Government’s Reset Agenda.
