In furtherance of efforts to advance bilateral relations between Ghana and Sierra Leone, Senior Officials from both countries convened in Accra on Tuesday, 21st April, 2026 for the Technical Session of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC).
Delivering her remarks, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-Chairperson for the Technical Session, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu recalled the historical ties between Ghana and Sierra Leone which is built on mutual respect and cooperation. She stated that the session marks the activation of a mechanism established in 2013 to provide a platform for structured dialogue between the two countries.
Ambassador Khadija further indicated that extensive preparatory work had been undertaken to ensure that the session delivers actionable outcomes and urged focus on sectors including trade and investment, defence and security, agriculture, energy and health.
On his part, the Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone and Co-Chairperson, Mr. Alan C.E. Logan described the meeting as a critical step in translating the shared vision of the two leaders of Ghana and Sierra Leone into concrete outcomes for the mutual benefit of the citizens. He reiterated Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening economic partnership and deepening collaboration across key sectors and emphasised the importance of leveraging Ghana’s experience in sectors such as agriculture.
The session reflects the shared commitment of Ghana and Sierra Leone to deepen bilateral relations and promote sustainable development through structured engagement and practical cooperation.
