The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, Mr. Denys Bashlyk on Friday, 10th April, 2026 with the view to taking stock of progress made in relation to an understanding between Ghana and Ukraine to deepen cooperation, particularly in the field of agriculture. Discussions focused on building capacity to ensure food security.
During the meeting, Honourable Ablakwa underscored the commitment of Ghana in providing conducive business environment for investment. He indicated Ghana’s readiness to invest in the agricultural sector to become an agrarian hub. He further used the opportunity to convey his gratitude for the audience granted him by the President of Ukraine, His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit for the negotiation of the release of the two Ghanaian Prisoners of War.
On his part, Mr. Bashlyk outlined Ukraine’s interest in investing in the agricultural value chain in Ghana, establish joint research centres, transfer of technologies through collaboration with universities in both countries, among others. He stated the need for collaboration between the private sectors to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Ghana and Ukraine.
