As part of the activities earmarked for the celebration of 2026 Civil Service Week, the Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh on Friday, 15th May, 2026, officially opened the 2026 Civil Service Week Inter-Ministerial Games in a colorful ceremony held at the Accra Sports Stadium. The theme for the 2026 Civil Service Week is “The Resetting Agenda for Sustainable Development in Ghana: The Civil Service’s Responsibility.” The event, which brought together civil service staff from ministries, departments, agencies and other public service institutions, was a celebration of unity, collaboration, and renewed commitment to excellence in public administration.
Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh described the Civil Service Week celebration as an institutional tradition that has evolved into a platform for strengthening unity, deepening professional collaboration and promoting a shared identity among civil service staff. He emphasised that the success of the resetting agenda depends greatly on the civil service’s ability to strengthen institutional performance, enhance service delivery and uphold a healthy and motivated workforce.
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, said the occasion was important and noted that the inter-ministerial games serve as a platform to promote multi-sectoral collaboration and deepen bonds among civil service staff. She encouraged all staff to participate and reflect on their responsibilities and renew their commitment to service delivery for the people of Ghana.
