The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Charles Owiredu received Open Letters from the Ambassador–Designate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Ghana, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan on Tuesday, 22nd January 2019.
Hon. Charles Owiredu congratulated Mr. Pham Anh Tuan on his appointment, stating that Ghana and Vietnam have had long standing bilateral relations. He recalled that Engineers from Vietnam helped with Ghana’s infrastructure development at the time of independence.
The Deputy Minister stated that government had put in place a number of initiatives to create jobs for the youth of the country and was also embarking on an industrialization drive.
He commended Vietnam for the advancement it had made in the agriculture sector. He indicated that both countries had a lot to learn from each other and should cooperate especially in the areas of agriculture, oil and gas and mining. He also urged both countries to work to open a diplomatic mission in each country.
For his part, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, commended Ghana for her democracy. He noted that there was a lot of potential for both countries and called for further cooperation towards exchanging of experiences in the areas of agriculture and mining. He assured of his commitment to deepen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
