Chinese Government Supports Ministry Of Foreign Affairs And Regional Integration, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has received support in the form of a cheque amounting to US$ 302,311 (2 million RMB) and two mini buses from the Government of the People’s Republic of China .

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey (MP) who received the donation on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, commended the gesture by the Government of China. She recalled that China had provided a grant for the rehabilitation of the Headquarters building of the Ministry. She disclosed that “discussions are underway to secure similar funding to construct an Annex to the Ministry’s building”.

Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey observed that Ghana and China have a long standing cordial relationship and the partnership between both countries is significant in Ghana’s socio-economic development. She expressed gratitude for the donation and hinted that the donation will go a long way to help with the operations and maintenance of the Ministry’s building.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, His Excellency Shi Ting Wang on his part indicated that the Ministry has played a vital role in the pragmatic cooperation between China and Ghana which has yielded fruitful results.

He indicated that Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey recently paid an official visit to China which was of great significance for both countries because it contributed to enhancing the mutual trust, consolidate friendship and promote in-depth development of China-Ghana relations. Ambassador Wang was hopeful that the donation will help with the capacity building of the Ministry.
