The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ghana, H.E. Christoph Retzlaff and officials of the German Embassy paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey (MP) on Friday, 13th July, 2018, to discuss the working visit to Ghana of the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Her Excellency Angela Merkel which is scheduled for Thursday, 30th August, 2018.
The proposed activities for the visit include among others, bilateral talks between the President of the Republic and the German Chancellor, to take stock of the longstanding relations between Ghana and Germany and renew the cooperation between them for their mutual benefit; a round table business economic forum between a high level business delegation from Germany and their Ghanaian counterparts to discuss the G20 Compact with Africa Initiative; as well as bilateral reforms and investment partnership.
During the discussions, H.E Retzlaff disclosed that the German Chancellor would be accompanied on the visit by the Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Mr. Gerd Müller.
Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey (MP) ceased the opportunity to assure the Ambassador and his team of the Ministry’s support, together with other stakeholders to ensure that the visit of the German Chancellor was successful. She also expressed the need for mutual cooperation to imprint a lasting memory of the visit.
