ENHANCING BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN GHANA AND KYRGYZSTAN

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) undertook an Official Visit to the Kyrgyz Republic with a view to enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries.

A key highlight of the visit was the shared vision to develop strategic partnership across priority sectors including the gold sector. Both nations, recognised as leading gold producers in their respective regions, considered it as opportunity for collaboration in the extractive industry.

Ghana and Kyrgyzstan signed a visa waiver agreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports. Consultations are underway to have similar arrangements for holders of Ordinary Passport. An agreement was concluded to establish formal political consultations to pave way for sustained dialogue and cooperation.

The partnership between the two countries is expected to unlock opportunities for growth through trade, investment, and economic collaboration.

The landmark visit reflects a step toward strengthening South–South cooperation and underscores a shared commitment between Ghana and Kyrgyzstan to build a forward-looking relationship based on mutual respect and trust.
