GHANA TO MAXIMISE BENEFITS OF TICAD 7

Government would ensure that Ghana fully benefits from the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on Africa Development (TICAD 7).

This was made known by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Charles Owiredu, when the Representative  of Government of Japan for International Peace and Stability, and Ambassador  Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mr. Okamura Yoshifumi, paid a courtesy call on him on Thursday, 7th February 2019.

Hon. Charles Owiredu in his remarks acknowledged the bilateral relations between Ghana and Japan which he said had been consolidated over the years. He added that Japan had over the years cooperated with Ghana in the areas of infrastructure development, healthcare, technology transfer and human resource development. He reiterated Ghana’s commitment to further enhance cooperation with Japan in the areas of human resource development and technology transfer.

For his part, the Representative of Government of Japan for International Peace and Stability, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mr. Okamura Yoshifumi commended Ghana for participating in the TICAD Ministerial Meeting which was held in October 2018, on the theme “Economic Transformation for Inclusive Growth”.

 

He indicated that the upcoming TICAD 7 would among other areas, focus on health, peace and stability in Africa.  He urged Ghana to participate in the upcoming conference in order to achieve its full benefits. The conference would take place from the 28th to 30th August 2019, in Yokohama, Japan.

The Ambassador of Japan to Ghana, His Excellency Mr. Tsumotu Himeno, called for deepen cooperation between Japan and Ghana to further enhance the relations between the two countries.
