Handing Over Ceremony Of The China -Ghana Friendship Community Center At Maranatha University College Of Ga Central Municipality

The handing over ceremony of the China-Ghana Friendship Community Center, took place on Friday, 23rd March, 2018 at the Maranatha University College at Sowutuom in the Ga Central Municipality.  In attendance was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Ambassador for the People’s  Republic of China to Ghana, H.E. Sun Baohong, the Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey, the President of Maranatha University College,  Rev. Dr. Simon K. Degbe, Officials of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs And Regional Integration,  a delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, and leaders of the community.

The new China- Ghana Friendship Community Center, an  ultra- modern facility is, among other things, equipped with 55 computers and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).

In her remarks,  Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey  conveyed warm greetings to  all present. On behalf of the Government of Ghana, she expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chinese Government for the laudable initiative of putting up the facility for the benefit of the community. She further acknowledged the efforts of the Founding Fathers of Ghana and China, and the friendship and cooperation forged between the two countries, which she stated, had  contributed significantly in various facets such as political, economic, trade and investment as well as cultural.

On her part, H.E. Sun Baohong stated that the Government of Ghana has always adhered to a people-centered development policy. She further stated that, in its  external cooperation efforts, China makes the livelihood of the local people a top priority. H.E. Sun Baohong also reaffirmed her Embassy’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in taking the Sino-Ghanaian relationship to a higher level.
