New Year’s Greetings Held At The Forecourt Of The State House, Wednesday 7th March, 2018.

The Annual New Year’s Greetings was hosted by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, 7th March, 2018 at the Flagstaff House. The event was attended by top dignitaries like the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Pavelyn Tendai Musaka. Also in attendance were Members of the Diplomatic Community.

In his introductory remarks, President Akufo-Addo welcomed the Diplomatic Corps, including the new Heads of Mission, to the gathering, and wished them successful tours of duty. The President added that the purpose of the event was to “exchange messages of goodwill and to reaffirm our commitment to the ties of friendship and cooperation that  bind our respective Countries and Peoples together”.  He also took the opportunity to, among other things reiterate his commitment to build a “Ghana Beyond  Aid”. The President also assured of Ghana’s willingness to extend a hand of friendship to people from all corners of the world.

On her part, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, stated that relations between Ghana and all countries and institutions represented were on a positive trajectory. She acknowledged the unending support received from the Diplomatic Community in the conduct of Ghana’s foreign relations. The Foreign Minister further lauded the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, for forging close ties between the Diplomatic Corps and the Republic of Ghana.

Speaking on behalf of the Diplomatic Corps, the Dean, among other things, congratulated the Republic of Ghana on the occasion of its 61st Independence Day Anniversary. She expressed appreciation for the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations between Ghana and the respective Countries and Agencies.
