PRESIDENT APPOINTS TWO NEW ENVOYS

President Akufo-Addo has appointed Dr Winfred Nii Okai Hammond and Hilda Eudora Quartey-Koranteng as Ghana’s Ambassadors to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Italy respectively.

At the Jubilee House on Wednesday 27th February, 2019, the two new envoys took the oaths of Office and Secrecy, administered by the President, after which their letters of credence were presented to them.

In a congratulatory message, President Akufo-Addo said he settled on the two because they were eminently fit to represent Ghana on the world stage.

He charged the pair to safeguard, preserve, protect and promote the high image of Ghana at all times.

President Akufo-Addo adviced the envoys on the need to maintain cordial relations with Foreign Service Officers at their individual missions and draw on their invaluable experiences to enhance their work, while providing the needed leadership.

The President also pointed out their duties as the official diplomatic representatives of the country and entreated them to ensure the welfare of Ghanaians in their assigned regions as well as explore opportunities to deepen the cooperation between Ghana and their respective countries.

In an acceptance address, Ambassador Hammond was grateful to the president for the confidence reposed in them and the opportunity to serve Ghana.

He assured of their commitment to work to strengthen the ties between Ghana and the respective countries across sectors for development and growth.
