His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic, commissioned five envoys comprising four Ambassadors and one High Commissioner on Tuesday, 19th November, 2024 at the Jubilee House.
The envoys are H. E. Mrs. Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, the Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Austria, H. E. Mrs. Vivian Kafui Akua Asempapa, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Senegal, H. E. Mrs. Regina Appiah-Sam, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the Kingdom of Spain, H. E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the Islamic Republic of Iran and H. E. Dr. Senalor Kwabla Yawlui, High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Sierra Leone.
Delivering his address, President Akufo-Addo extended his heartfelt congratulations to the career envoys who have distinguished themselves in their various undertakings as Civil Servants and Diplomats of Ghana, He stated that their nomination reflects their personal career achievements and also a demonstration of theunwavering patriotic spirit. He noted that their elevation speaks of the confidence reposed in the execution of their duties in these challenging times. He further charged them to uphold the integrity, loyalty and the good name of Ghana in the countries of their accreditation.
He expressed the need for Ghana to deepen its ties of cooperation and strengthen the bonds of friendship with all friendly nations. He charged them to cooperate with their respective host governments in bilateral and multilateral for a to foster and pursue the attainment of the Ghana beyond aid agenda. He further charged them to be mindful in their tenure in the realisation of the common goal to combat the surge of armed conflicts, terrorism, violent extremism, threats of climate change and the illicit outflows of funds.
The President encouraged them to attract investments into the country and also become strong advocates for Ghana and Ghanaians in the diaspora drawing on their expertise in the service of Ghana. Additionally, he commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration for its outstanding work done in collaboration with the Office the President towards among others, the attainment of Full-membership status of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and the election of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth .
On behalf of the newly commissioned envoys, H. E. Mrs. Vivian Kafui Aku Asempapa conveyed their profound gratitude to the President for the trust and confidence reposed in them to be emissaries of the Republic of Ghana. She assured him that they would exhibit stellar traits in their interactions and conduct of their designated duties, both bilaterally and on the multilateral stage. She further, assured of their determination to explore opportunities to aid in the transformation of the economy of Ghana and the socio-cultural life of her peoples.
Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, senior government officials from the of the Foreign Ministry and other Ministries, the clergy, the Council of State and a cross-section of the diplomatic corps as well as families and friends of the newly commissioned envoys.
