The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, commissioned two Ghanaian envoys, Mrs. Gloria Poku and Mrs. Jane Gasu Aheto who have been accredited to the Republic of Senegal and Guinea respectively, on Friday, 22nd June, 2018 at the Jubilee House . The two were announced as the seventh batch of Ghanaian envoys accredited to foreign countries.
The new envoys swore the oath of Allegiance, Secrecy and Office, following which, H.E. President Akufo-Addo presented them with their respective Letters of Credence in accordance with article 74(1) of the Constitution of Ghana.
In his remarks, H.E. the President urged the envoys to uphold, safeguard and promote the interest of Ghana in their respective countries of accreditation. He indicated that the three-fold responsibilities, which are diplomatic, ceremonial and administrative in nature, should guide them in the discharge of their duties as well as in the preservation of the image of the country. He further charged them with the task of advancing rigorously, the promotion of trade and investment in their countries of accreditation as well as, have a good rapport with the Ghanaian community and engage them on the developmental agenda of Ghana. He also added that it was imperative to deepen relations with their staff to enable them achieve their mandate, which is to ”Build Ghana Beyond aid”.
Mrs. Aheto, expressed gratitude to H.E. the President for recognizing their efforts and indicated that the responsibilities reposed in them will propel them, to exert all efforts in deepening the relations between Ghana and their respective countries of accreditation.
