A Model United Nations Conference has been held as part of activities to mark the 77th United Nations Day celebrations in Ghana. Over 150 Junior High School students from different parts of the country participated in the conference which was held on Monday, 24th October, 2022 at the Accra International Conference.

The conference gave participants the opportunity to act as mock Ambassadors in a Model United Nations conference setting. The programme focused on building the skills of the participants in diplomacy, leadership, teamwork, and enhancing their knowledge about programmes and proceedings of the United Nations.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, in a statement read on her behalf by the Director of the Multilateral Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mrs. Joyce Asamoah-Koranteng, emphasised the need to seek integrated solutions for current global challenges. She further stated that the current global challenges buttress the need to hold true to the fundamental tenets of the United Nations Charter, while advancing sustainable transformation, strengthening the role of science in decision-making and encouraging greater unity.

Hon Ayorkor Botchwey urged participants to contribute wholeheartedly to the conference which was aimed at training them to become future negotiators, problem solvers, and leaders of Ghana.
