The incoming country representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Dr. Wilfred Ochan presented his letters of credence to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on Friday 23rd December, 2022.
Mr. Wilfred Ochan in his remarks applauded the Government of Ghana and Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York for supporting the UNFP in the discharge of its duties, particularly in areas of mutual interest. He also commended Ghana for its outstanding leadership effort in the ECOWAS Region.
On her part, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey noted the Government of Ghana’s preparedness to support the UNFP in areas such as sexual and reproductive health and rights, and the implementation of the national population programme which are in line with the Government’s development plans. She reaffirmed Ghana’s willingness to continue collaborating with the UNFPA to achieve sustainable development.
