Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Receives Spanish Ambassador, H.E. Alicia Rico, on 6th February, 2018

After the exchange of pleasantries, the Hon. Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, reiterated the good relations between Ghana and Spain. She also expressed the hope that during the Ambassador’s tenure in office, relations between the two countries would be deepened. The Hon. Minister stated that the Government had ambitious policies, which would inure to the benefit of the country’s teeming youth.

She then highlighted Government’s policies which aim at achieving the “Ghana Beyond Aid” initiative, such as “One Village, One Dam”, One District, One Factory”, and “Planting for Food and Jobs”. She expressed the hope that friendly countries such as Spain, would take up the challenge of pushing for their business communities to invest in Ghana.

H.E. Ambassador Alicia Rico, in response, commended the “Ghana Beyond Aid” initiative and ensured Spain’s full support towards achieving its goals. She also expressed confidence in Ghana’s political and economic stability, as well as novel economic reforms, and stated that through the above-mentioned qualities, the Ghana would make so much progress.

The Hon. Minister, in closing, thanked the H.E. Ambassador Rico, and ensured the Ministry’s support in availing the Ambassador its required support.
